face paint season: a new territory.

 Hi Divas!

Happy spooky season to all of my fellow celebrators out there ๐Ÿ•ธ️๋࣭ ⭑

I write to you exhausted after battling what every college students finds themselves dreading: midterms. As I've had to balance studying, working, managing my orgs, and keeping up my social life, I have not been able to write on my blog. Which has, in turn, been awful.

But, hey, it's halloween time!!!! It's also, thankfully, my fall break. So, now I can work on my blog while time is forgiving. And... it is perfect for me to practice my halloween makeup.

I won't spoil what I am now... but just know it's cutie.

Before this fall, I was already fascinated by face paint art. It's insane to me how people can transform their faces. Not to mention how fun and whimsical it is. So, after seeing so many awe inspiring works of art on my Pinterest feed, I bought a pallet to mess around with.

Now, I am not an artist when it comes to makeup. I still mess up my eyeliner, and only just figured out how to line my lips. However, I finally gave the face paint a try yesterday (I had only practiced on my 12 year old nephew until now - he really is my bestie).

I did a random look which was just... green. Not very original but we all have to start somewhere ◝(แต”แ—œแต”)◜

Here she is:

⋆˚꩜。 I look good green, if I do say so myself ⋆˚꩜。

I definitely have room for improvement, but I had so much fun and this may become a new hobby of mine! To all my face paint divas out there - you are so cool. Keep doing you bae.

I have been enjoying this halloween season and I love halloween in general. It's time to bust out Practical Magic, Hocus Pocus, and Halloween Town! Eat your candy, dress up cute, and carve those pumpkins divas because it's the best time of the year (well... dare I say second best).

I'm going to go enjoy some hot Cheetos and read a witch romance while watching Practical Magic (I know - epic multi-tasking on my part).

I will be back soon, in a more spooky attire. Stay tuned ⋆⭒˚.⋆

Angie

adults: a gushing review.

Hi Divas!

Lately, in the throes of boredom and procrastination, I have watched the show Adults. And.. let me be the one to say.. it's one of the best shows out there right now.

I think we've hit a drought in creativity and originality in the film industry. And us, the audience, are thirsty mama! Personally, I am longing for 20 + episode seasons with holiday fillers and crazy plot lines. I miss the days when ABC family ruled my screen and had the best shows (shout out to Switched at Birth, Pretty Little Liars, and Grown-ish). But, sadly, streaming services came along and introduced the world of 8 episode seasons that take 3 years at a time, have endless plot holes, and (dare I say) bad acting.

I think this is why Adults is so refreshing. I mean, not only is it hilarious, but it's new and I haven't watched a show that has kept my attention in such a long time.

***Spoiler Warning***

So, I won't lie, I did not get into the show at first. I feel like throughout time, I have struggled with getting into blatantly obvious comedies (both shows and movies). But, I've been challenging myself to expand my taste in media because it's so boring when you only let yourself like one thing!

Anyways,

I started watching Adults because I kept seeing posts about season 2. Snippets of the Annabelle episode sucked me right in. I needed to watch it because it just looked too good. I was practically tripping over myself to get to my Hulu account.

So, I first watched the show about a month ago? I finished both season's in max three days. Then rewatched said seasons at least 4 times. I have a problem for sure.

I think what makes this show so great is that we finally have media about 20-somethings. Do I wish there was more media about college-age people?

Uhhh yes!

I could argue that majority of t.v. shows and movies that have high schoolers as the main protagonists, would benefit from them being older (plot wise and moral wise because why are we making questionable plot lines for sixteen year olds... I digress).

One of the best parts of this show is how it blends comedy, real world scenarios, and relevant topics. There are a variety of topics from politics to the silly (and embarrassing) moments we all experience.

I would argue that this show is so gen-z. I mean, most of comedic media I see is catered towards millennials (don't worry, no hate to ya'll), so it was refreshing to see true gen-z representation that wasn't over the top stereotypes that we see is Netflix originals.

When it comes to the characters - I love them so bad.

In my mind, I am part of the group and I live in Samirs house. If only เซฎ₍ ´ ꒳ `₎แƒ

Anton is definitely my favorite. I feel like his character is so well written and his episode with Talia was so funny. When he ran into the closet I died. Then, the table scene with Annablle... girl I quote it so often.

He. Is. Fluid!

Truly, all of my favorite moments in the show are with him - and Paul Baker.

I absolutely love them. Especially together.

There's a lot of discourse I see about whether they should have ended up together. I understand why some people think they came out of no where. I felt the same at first when I initially watched the ending. But, upon reflecting a bit - and observing through my frequent rewatches - there was insane foreshadowing!

Little moments like eye contact, Paul Baker checking in on Anton (and calling him out), and their conversations in general - it was in our faces.

Speaking of endings... Samir and Billie? Y'all, I saw it happening but I was kind of hoping it wouldn't.  But, I trust the writers will make it something great (I hope). Sometimes, I get worried when a show has too many of the main protagonists pursue each other. This is mainly because either the plot becomes stagnant so they "spice it up" with breakups, cheating, or end the show. Or, the plot falls apart because it becomes too complicated. Do I think this will happen? No. But, I can't be too sure that some sticky situations aren't in our futures.

Overall, I love them all. Isa is so cute. John Carlos is hilarious (and weird - the tooth necklace!).  Billie stresses me out, but she's still my girl.

I can't wait for season three. My rating so far is a 4.5 ˚⟡˖ ࣪

Time for the 5th rewatch!

Angie

some big advice from a not so big sister

Hi Divas!
It has come to my attention that life can be a bit... out there.
It's unforgiving, and leaves little space for mistakes - and room to breathe. I mean, what's a girl got to do to not have the world resting on her shoulders?

I am the youngest out of my siblings, they're all older than me with ten plus year age gaps (I know!). I've learned a lot from them (and my mom of course, #shoutout to her). But, gaps in age and maturity have left me to figure out some things on my own.

Which brings me to my post today... if you couldn't already guess (˶˃ แต• ˂˶)

With age (mind you I am 20 years old.. but hear me out), I've learned so many lessons and tips from everyone in my life. Big and small. And, I thought, maybe I could share them with you. Give some (big? little?) sister love. I'd like to talk about a broad topic of things. Some sentimental, some vital, and some that are absolutley life changing. This advice can apply to any diva in which the heel fits - we welcome all divas on this blog!
 ☆*:.。. >⩊<.แŸ.。.:*☆
Friendship Tips. Friendships can be tricky. They're beautiful and a bit harrowing at times... but when you find your people you know.

Boundaries: these will save you. You need to welcome boundaries from others, and set your own. Don't get me wrong, boundaries can be scary. What if people get upset with you, or don't agree? These are real worries. But, if that does end up being the case, those aren't your friends girl! People who care about you  - and want you in their lives - will do the things necessary to ensure that. Be selfish about keeping your values and heart intact - they're invaluable.
Endings: Some friends, aren't meant to stay forever. It sucks - and gawd does it hurt - but sometimes people are lessons, not our forevers. Remember that two things can exist at once, you can care for someone but not want to have them in your life and that is okay. Please, do not stick around in a friendship if you think things will get better, or think they will change... it's not your job to make people better nor can you waste energy you could be using elsewhere. Some cases vary, but keep this is mind.
Communication: Okay friends, repeat with me: communicate those feelings! You cannot expect change without explaining that it is needed. You cannot assume it to be so. You cannot read minds. Even though I believe in intution - especially that of my ladies out there - we need to be mindful that all of our minds and experiences differ. Sometimes, it seems pretty obvious what is right and what is wrong - and you go based on that okay! - but also people do make missteps. Talk it out. Listen. Go from there. Then make your choice.
Beauty Beauty Beauty. Let me stress, take care of yourself. It is so so so necessary for your health, both mental and physical. Take the shower even when you're tired. Brush your teeth even when everything feels useless. And brush that hair even if your arms are heavy. Your body is your only body - forever.

Shower routine: Wanna smell good, like gewwwddd? (channeling Keke Palmer here, okay?)  Then let me put you on: Exfoliate (2-3x a week, and before shaving), with those scrubby gloves. Cleanse that skin! Use an anti-bacterial wash to get the grime and icky stuff. I personally use the Natrium Smooth Glycolic Acid Wash. Then, when washing in more sensitive areas, use a light fragrant-free soap (I used baby Dove wash). Follow with your fragrance of choice that is moisturizing (I also use a Dove body wash here - the special edition Bridgerton collection!). After the shower, you need to lock in the scent. So, do as follows: Lotion, Body oil, Perfume. My holy trinity, and I stand by it. Apply your perfume on your wrists, inner elbows, behind your knees, and your neck. You'll have people asking how you smell so good, and trust me girl, you will!

Acne: If you struggle with facial and body acne like I do, then let me be of service. Change your sheets regularly. And that pillow case? That too. Do not wash your hair after you wash your body (and clip it up after you're done), because the conditioner and shampoo can cause breakouts. Do not overdo it with product after product because you could be ruining your skin barrier and causing more damage. Always wash your hands!! Even if you don't think you touch your face often, it will happen here or there. No picking and minimal pimple patches. If you're like me, picking your face is so hard not to do. But picking and excessive use of pimple patches causes scarring and continuous breakouts. If you're able, consult a dermatologist as well. I have not been able to but hopefully one day!

The Basics: Somedays, we're not going to feel our best. But, baddie to baddie, we need to do the little things to keep ourselves put together. Don't bite your nails - paint them, trim them, and file. Take care of that hair!!! Always floss before you brush, and scrub that tongue. Change your socks every day, and don't forget to wash your feet and behind your knees. Clean your piercings. Have a selection of different perumes. Accessorize. Don't over wash your hair - do this based on your hair type. Always wear sunscreen during the day.  Deodorant - not the spray on. Wear chapstick or vaseline after brushing your teeth. Put the shea moisture hair products down. Spray some perfume mist above your head and let it settle in your hair. Pick your outfit the night before an event/class. Apply lotion on damp skin. Don't wear your outside clothes on your bed. Clean that water bottle. And most of all, make sure you feel like your best self
.

Some randoms. There are some random things I live by and I do so that I am happy. I think we all have those little quirks that keep us ticking.
- Do things by yourself. You are not a loser or weird for going to the concert by yourself or going out by yourself. You don't need an excuse to do something for you. Do one craft a week. Doesn't have to be big - or small. Exercise your mind and your imagination, and take a break from the serious. Sing when no one is home. Dance in your room before bed. Listen to your "I'm that girl" song whenever you need a boost. Don't be aggressive when getting ready. Be gentle when applying your lotion and products, and don't rush. Stretch stretch stretch. Always have at least 2 pads (or tampons) in your bag. Always have the minis in your bag: chapstick, mini deodorant stick, perfume mist, hair ties, etc. Treat yourself - you don't need to wait and "reward" yourself with what you want. Carry at least $20 on you at all times just in case. Don't be cheap on the things you use everyday because they are necessities (within reason). Don't shy away from your feelings Cry to a song once in a while. Show your love to others.Watch older movies and shows!!!

Okay my beloved divas, it is time for me to do my homework (spare me!). I hope that I was of some help in my long, long, longgggg list of personals do's and dont's.

bedrooms: our own personal art

 Hi my diva friends!

Lately, I have not been able to work on my blog because this diva was very busy with college move-in and my first week of classes. And let me just say... it's been a long week.

But we're back!

Today, I wanted to discuss an important topic to all college students: dorms. And, for my general audience, your bedrooms!

Everyone has their own style. Punk, gothic, preppy, alt, etc. You see this in what people wear, their hobbies, and the songs they listen to. And, most importantly - if you're granted access - you'll see it in their rooms.

In tune with assignments and doing well in your classes, I'd argue that your dorm/bedroom is the second most important thing in your day to day life. It's a place for you to express yourself, be yourself, and love yourself. It's safe, comforting, and your personal getaway. You need to love it and to feel like it is your own. So, that's where decorating comes in.

Personally, I treat my room/dorm as if it were my own mosaic. It's my space to do whatever I want and need to feel like me. Each year that I've been in college, I have experimented with decor and have added or taken away some things. Posters have come and gone. Photos either rearranged or tucked away (not all friendships last I fear). And trinkets that are continually added. In all of this, one main message stands: our rooms are for us, and we need to treat them that way.

There was a time where I struggled to be myself. I felt that in order to fit in, I couldn't dress the way I wanted, act the way I wanted, or even decorate my room the way I wanted. Then, when quarantine rolled around, I was 14 going on 15, and was stuck in my room all day. All. Day.

I remember distinctly thinking: my room doesn't feel like me.

I had spent such a long time stuffing away my possessions that showed who I was, that in the end, I had an empty room that could have belonged to any teenage girl at the time.

So, I made a change.

I couldn't afford new posters, so I drew them. I made butterfly garlands. Hung up my polaroids all over. Added trinkets to my shelves. I couldn't stop until I was assured that my space was my own.

Ever since then, there is never doubt that my space is mine. And, my dear divas, I encourage you to do the same.

No matter what style or hobbies you enjoy, your room should be for you - and no one else!

Now, I'd like to show my dorm room! It is not completely finished... some paper stars are in the works... but I think it's come together well so far.

The desk I am writing to you from!              My bed, and it's lofted so it's good for storage.

My "vanity" space. I'm obsessed with it!               This is a better look of my pictures.

I hope my advice finds you all well, and that you enjoyed my mini dorm tour. I have missed blogging, so look forward to some new additions on my page and for me to be more active!!!

ultimate sweetness

 Hi Divas!

Today was my last day of work from 1 of my 3 jobs this summer!!!

I finished my other jobs earlier this week so I am officially unemployed.

... only for 2 weeks though!

While I am at school I work at a zoo as an interpreter for the exhibits. I teach visitors about the animals and the inner workings of the zoo. I won't be starting until my second week of classes thankfully, so I get a mini break.

But, when I was home for the summer, I worked as a farm camp counselor, pet grooming assistant, and at a custard shop! Today was my last day at the custard shop (maybe ever???), which I have been working at since I was 16. I won't lie, I love it. I've made so many friends, connections, and have a novel of funny stories to last me a longgg time.

^ Me and Liyaah (best work duo out there + besties )

It's pretty bittersweet when you have to start heading back to school. Lots of goodbyes, packing, decisions, and a big reality: real life is starting. I have more schooling ahead of me since I want to be a veterinarian, and while I can't wait to start that part of my life, I think I'll hold onto these last fleeting moments a little longer. I won't have many more chances in the future to scoop sundaes while talking about old high school memories, the perils of food service, and anything we can to pass the time.

Not to mention the free sundaes at my disposal.

Be prepared for a back to school haul and dorm room tour in the near future...

Kisses,

Angie

music my savior

 Hi Divas!

After this day - very busy might I add - I have turned to music to decompress

My music taste varies a lot. I love R&B, rock/classic rock, Motown (and oldies in general), pop, and emo (alt rock). Some of my favorite artists include: The All American Rejects, The Ronettes, My Chemical Romance, Mariah Carey (It's a Wrap is literally my song), Little Mix, Bowling for Soup, Good Charlotte, Alanis Morisette, Pierce the Veil, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, The Cranberries, Mary J. Blige, Ravyn Lenae, Fall Out Boy, Solange, Janet Jackson, and so so sooo many more.

Growing up, I didn't go to concerts often because they were expensive. My first concert (and only until high school) was Jingle Ball Bash when I was in 4th grade. I dressed my best (a coral minion shirt) and screamed my heart out to Selena Gomez and swooned over Shawn Mendez, Nick Jonas, and Joe Jonas (my little heart couldn't handle it).

But, now that I am older, I have gotten the chance to attend more!

In the last 2-3 years I've seen YOUNGLOVE, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Devo, Alanis Morisette, Pat Benatar, Good Charlotte, My Chemical Romance, The Pretty Reckless, The Jonas Brothers, The All American Rejects (still riding that high), AC/DC, and Motion City Soundtrack.

^ Good Charlotte concert this summer!

My soul has been throughly blessed by these performances. I was dying to go to Riot Fest, but I will be out of state (7 hours away) at school (everyone cry with me). One day though... one day.

I am always getting into new music, and I love when my friends recommend songs to me. It makes me feel closer to them when we can vibe to a shared song/artist. Music is such a beautiful way to connect with people and those you care about!

When I go back to school, I want to find more friends who have shared music taste with me. I am hoping to go to a concert with my friends because 1. how fun would that be? and 2. it's a college experience I am dying to have.

Now, I am going to relax - sing along to all my goodies on my playlist - and fall asleep blissfully before my 8 hour shift tomorrow.

Kisses,

Angie

headaches, coffee, and future plans

 Hi Divas!

I am writing to you in the midst of the biggest headache. I won't lie, this post is not much of entertainment as much as it is just a status update. I have not been super active on here this week because I've been busy busy. Today, I have been setting up my class schedule, work schedule, shadowing schedule, and prospective volunteering schedule for the fall semester. Safe to say, ya girl is a bit stressed.

This week will be nothing short of long and tiring. My life as a college student - before I leave for campus again - is as followed: filled with last minute friend get to togethers, back to school shopping, meetings, financial aid emails, family bonding time, budgeting plans, hours of scheduling, and of course the inevitable melancholy that comes with saying my goodbyes.

Despite the stress that is present in my life right now- and an increased caffeine consumption (coffee ban in full effect now), I am happy to report that my class schedule is not as bad as it was last year. With that being said, I think this semester will be pretty fun! Also, I am bringing my car (which I bought this summer), so I won't need to rely on the bus anymore (everyone cheer).

I've only found myself having trouble with one thing: what to do for fun.
You'd think a 20 year old girl would have a list of things she'd like to do, but for me, it's been hard...

1. All of my friends have just left for college = no hangouts
2. My boyfriend just left for college = no entertainment
3. I am ending work this week = nothing to keep me busy
4. I have to save money = no fun expenses
5. I am tired of my usual hobbies = sitting around aimlessly

So, I have resorted to doing random things all day. I tanned for a while on my deck - for the first time. I am going to take a walk and won't stop until I find 5 things I haven't seen in a while (blue flower, black squirrel, etc), and then I'm going to pick a random movie/t.v. show to play while I clean my room. After that... maybe I'll go back to school shopping? Window shop? Draft up some poetry?

Who knows, but I will make sure to add it to my little "the daily" tab!

Anyways, I hope to write more on my blog in the upcoming days. And, I am so excited for my back to school updates! A dorm tour is so in our future.

Kisses,

Angie

face paint season: a new territory.

Hi Divas! Happy spooky season to all of my fellow celebrators out there ๐Ÿ•ธ️๋࣭ ⭑ I write to you exhausted after battling what every college ...
